What prevents your city/town from being the best place in the country to live?
Submitted by Cherney.
Who said Fort Collins, Colorado, isn't the best place in the country to live?? Seriously, I just love this place. I can see the Rocky Mountains from my bedroom window. My neighborhood is filled with bunnies. There are parks and bike trails all over the place. It has a picturesque Old Town and a thriving university community. The food is wonderful. The shopping is great. I get to watch a horse from my dining room window. We're only an hour away from big-city amenities in Denver. What is not to love??

I took them off so I wouldn't track mud all over the house. Pax & I spent most of the day on a Jeep excursion to Juanita, an abandoned railroad town in Colorado.
The Jeep now has a name, by the way. He is called Zeke.Any exciting travel plans for 2009?
I have to think in the extreme short term right now. But I suppose our upcoming 2-week excursion to Colorado is pretty exciting. We're going to look at houses. We're going to talk to at least one mortgage broker. I'm going to attend a meeting of people in my field in Colorado and do a bit of job-hunt networking. I'm going to attend a GIS class. We're going to meet Denver-area Mensans. We'll check out the community theatre scene. We'll discover new restaurants. And that's just what I have planned so far. Too bad it's a tad chilly for whitewater rafting, or I'd schedule that in there somewhere.
Stay tuned for a post about our adventure at Soaring Colorado. In the meantime, here are some photos from the train ride to get there. (Tall Timber Resort is accessible only by train or helicopter.)
Show us a name tag.

I happened upon this tag, affixed to an electrical box, whilst wandering about downtown Denver.
I'm blogging for the day now, as we're driving to Telluride today and I don't know if our hotel has Internet access. I don't really know much of anything about Telluride except that it has a ski resort. I don't ski. But I've skimmed a few online visitors' guides, and it looks like there will be some cool things to take pictures of. There is also a gondola lift, but I'm not clear on whether or not it is in operation outside of ski season.
Well, I'll post pictures as soon as I can.
Show us something blue.
Pax bought me this necklace from J Bartling Jewelry at the Farmers & Crafts Market in Las Cruces.
This was near Treasure Falls in Colorado. We stopped for a few minutes on our way to New York in July.
My beloved Ténèbre. I took this shot with a blue Lomolitos.
